Black and white

Run up Kinder low tonight, some devil had desaturated the colour from everything so it was all black and white.

Looking towards the downfall (which was in upfall mode)

Quite windy on the top.

Kinder Low end.

A fecking big mushroom on it's own in the middle of the moor.

Roych Clough.

Friday

Friday night run!

Playing with the cat, trying to think of reasons to stay home and drink beer.

Beer was delayed slightly in the end, with a soggy ish but bright run.

Nice farm vehicle.

It's raining

Tonight I ran to Chinley to pick up my bike, which I had left at the station there after going to see Pete. It was very rainy but nice to be out. Took my GPS so I could nerd out with stats afterwards.

Puddle + Hills.

Big wet stone.

Roych

Nipped out for a little ride this evening down to Roych Clough in the drizzle. I had just cleaned my brakes with degreaser, which I later learnt is about as good as oiling them. So I went downhill a bit faster than usual.

Had to push up this bit because it was too wet or my bikes to heavy, definately not because I lack awesome mountain bike skills.

No speed limit for cycles.

The sun taunting me from the distance, it instantly cleared up once I was home.

Sunday MTB

Took the mountain bike out after the famile had left this weekend, to celebrate its new pedal, went up to goyt valley and some bridleways which I haven't ridden before. Going to need to do some more road riding to prepare for a cycle ride I've signed up for called Tour of the Peak, it's 97 miles with about 10,000ft of ascent. It's in October though so I have ages to prepare.

Combs resevoir and newly fixed bike.

Really fun descent this bit. Couldn't stop as the flying ants were swarming and biting, the little bastards. I'd still endure a swarm of ants over a swart of highland midges though.

Ladder Hill descent, all very fun and the pedals didn't fall off so hurrah.

South Head Again

First fell race for a while last wednesday - Cracken Edge. Really beautiful evening and felt good although the big bowl of pasta 90 mins before came back to haunt me at the end (almost literally!). Didn't run after that until yesterday due to various aches and pains and over indulgences. Was glad I did get out though as after a day of drizzle and rain, as soon as I stepped out the clouds vanished and it was a fantastic evening run.

On way up South Head, had just passed a helicopter airlifting someone from one of the remoter farmhouses, hope they're ok.

Top of South Head.

Decided to do part of the Mount Famine fell route and drop right down into Dimpus (?) Clough then up the steep side of famine, it's hard work!

The farmers have tidied all the hay into bin-bags for the binmen to collect.

Logs

Yesterday I went for a long slow run of 13 miles or so over the Kinder Plateau, lots of people on the edges but few in the middle, where I pranced around in the peat like a fool.

The NT seem to be making little log dams to try and stop the peat escaping.

These are the Kinder Gates, probably only given a name as they are the only feature on the whole plateau.

Top of the downfall, you can see logs which have been washed from their dams jammed under the boulders. Kinder resevoir is probably a good source for free firewood at the moment, might need a bit of drying out though.

On way back, looking down into the Edale valley.
