No hangover saturday

Went out this morning, before heading off down south. We have plenty of time before having to leave as the neighbour is tarmacing the exit to the car park, and it would be anti social to drive two big tyre ruts through their hard work.

New sign on the way to the Roych Clough Green-lane, a one way order has been suggested, as too many cars have been going around the rock step by leaving the road. I hope people stick to it (although if they don't it might become closed to motor vehicles, hehe!).

I hope supermarket mushrooms aren't grown in poo, although i have a feeling they are.

It's a dull day today, with the odd glimpse of sun.

Nice flowers in the Chapel graveyard.

Hill rep thursday

Went out for quick run after work today, trying to avoid the showers. Ended up doing some hill repeats down by the entrance to Colburn Tunnel.

Slightly raggedy looking roadside flower.

Looking back towards wash and Eccles Pike

Roych and in the foreground my hill rep hill (the green line pointing towards the wall corner is the path).

I wonder what creatures live in these holes (if any).

Clouds

Did some hill reps on south head after work today. Really a stunning day, the clouds are amazing at the moment. In other news I've decided to enter the Borrowdale fell race, which has become my target for the summer. It's a big scary lakeland fell race and should provide plenty of motivation for the next couple of months.

Mount Famine from an unusual angle.

Edale cross.

Towards Mount Famine where I shall be participating in the Mount Famine fell race on Saturday.

Eccles pike and Chinley, do sheep sitting down mean its going to rain?

Hartingdon

Went on a very pleasant ride along the Tissington Trail from Hartingdon today, managed to not get rained on too!

Trev enjoying cycling up hill.

Nice views from the trail.

Suspiciously hilly bit of the "all downhill" last third.

Threatening clouds but no rain.

Canal Run

I've been thinking about trying to run the ten flat miles home from work once or twice a week, to add to my weekly milage. It's all on canal towpath and more or less an entirely flat, so definately doable. Alex dropped me in Marple today so i could give it a go and see how long it took. With a lot of dawdling it only took 1:25 so i think it's a goer. Not sure I'd manage running in and out on the same day though!

One of many interesting bridges on the canal. It's tempting to have a go at operating them but I'd probably get told off/chop my arm off somehow.

Tamest Heron ever, refusing to move to let me past. I think it's his bridge and I was tresspassing..

New Mills railway viaduct.

Bugsworth Basin, the old terminus of the canal and the start of the Peak Forest Tramway.

Actual running

Went for a little run up South Head this evening to remind myself how to run again. Running the Buxworth 5 tommorrow, which is a local road (!) race. Think I'll take it easy though as I'm not feeling very fit at the moment after a nice lazy easter.

Lamb wearing a sheep hat.

The trees are coming out really well.

Everything is getting very green.

What are these flowers, they are everywhere.

Tryfan

Made the most of the royal wedding day off with a fantastic walk up Tryfan, quiet roads, quiet (for a bank holiday) hills, perfect!
