Vanilla Ice

Hangover subsided just in time for a quick run before the sun went down.

South head through the trees.

Looking back towards Chapel.

Clouds building behind Kinder, maybe some snow later? Probably not though by the looks of it.

Its a bit chilly at the moment, my jelly babies were almost frozen (jelly babies isn't an euphemism btw I actually mean the sweets)

Dark nights

Went for a very icy run up william clough on Thursday, tried out some long exposure shots for some variety.

Steve appearing as a flash of lightning at the top of the clough.

Mysterious lights with Manc in the distant background.

Oh yes we also saw a grouse, it was mesmerised by the headtorch for long enough to get a photo.

Back down at the bottom. I managed to only fall over once in the whole run, which is pretty good going for me + ice.

Sunday Run

Went up Bleaklow via Doctors Gate today, felt very bitter in the easterly wind and there was a bit of snain (or snizzle) on top.

We visited the WW2 crash site of a B-29 Strato(?)fortress up on Higher Shelf Moor. Loads of wreckage scattered around, really eerie in the mist. Lots of memorial crosses and wreaths around the place too. Kind of expected to see a lost aircrewman emerge from the mist.

There is much more wreckage than just pictured here.

After that it was a really nice run back to the car and ultimately the Lantern Pike pub, where a nice pint of landlord was available for consumption.

Saturday Bike

Took the mountain bike out for the first time in ages on Saturday. Chilly day out of the sun and also suprisingly muddy.

On the way up to Peep O Day.

Rushup Edge sometime later.

Magical flying people.

Looks quite fun actually...

Monday Morning

Managed to ride to work on Monday, was late due to having to keep stopping to take photo's. The ride back was less pleasant, it was dark and my front light died, making the unlit country lanes a bit tricky. Luckily there was a biggish moon so I could see a bit.

View from Dolly Lane over Whaley Bridge.

The canal in Marple.

Took a detour over "The Ridge" as I thought it might be above the mist - it was!

The road towards Marple. Once back in the mist I kept getting hoar frost on my gloves and glasses - it was a bit cold!

Round the resevoir night time edition

Exciting run round the resevoir last night, very windy and as you can see a bit dark. Good big group of us though which made it much less scary. A few injuries along the way, including a one sided fight between someones head and a tree. All made it back in the end though!

Good example of the scenery visible.

There were a few showers but it was quite warm.

River crossing number 1 out of an eventual 145 (maybe a slight exaggeration)

The bridge at the bottom of William Clough.

Running in the dark

What a lovely week for running, apologies for the poor photo quality, getting some use of the waterproof features of my camera though!

Standing in a puddle.
In fact the whole of the tramway was a puddle, moving in one direction. So maybe a stream.

Chapel en le Frith by night, in the rain, in a gale.
Running at night with a headtorch on your own is scary. Your eye catches something and you think WHAT THE HELL IS THAT, then you realise it's a fencepost. Luckily as it's so dark there is noone around to see you being scared of a fencepost.
