Thursday run

Woops, not updated the blog in a while... lost camera battery charger and also not been out much. Too much cycle commuting making me too tired for evening exercise (well thats my excuse!). Nice run this evening though before heading out to Spain for a few days.

I love this ridge leading to mount famine, possibly known locally as the dragons back.

View from top of South Head.

Mystery clough.

Moo cows, thankfully not of the charging angry variety.

MTB

After a boring night of no drinking on Friday (Alex was out and I was too lazy to go to the shops for my fix), I got up earlyish and went on my first off road ride for ages. It was scorching, dry and really fun. Plus I managed not to fall on my head, which was pleasant.

Which rut is good and which will get deeper and deeper till the pedals catch and i go flying over the bars?

Stunning day.

The newly resurfaced/flattened chapel gate, managed to cycle all the way up without a foot down, was pleased!

Cotton-grass on the moor above Chapel, MMM SUMMER!

Kinder ramble

Interesting run with Steve this evening, tried a new route up near mermaids pool. The path we followed might have gone somewhere but dissapeared into the bracken jungle. We were lucky to escape!

We went up there.

Hidden valley.

On the way up.

Delapidated style.

Flowers

Stunning day today, went for a walk down Lathkill Dale with Alex, managed to not get too burnt and it wasn't too busy. Also went for a bike ride this afternoon, which means i may have overdone it sun-wise.

Lathkill dale from Cave Dale (possibly!).

The rare Jacobs Ladder (according to a sign next to a field full of these).

Mystery tiny plant #1, which i have not plucked, I am merely holding still because it was so tiny.

Mystery plant #2, Alex had suspicions of orchidness but I would know what an orchid looked like if it introduced itself to me over dinner. Anyone to identify mystery plants 1 & 2 gets a prize!

Solstice

Out for a run this evening, first one since the Wharmton Dash. I've been cycling in every day which has been tiring me out too much for running, hopefully should start adjusting soon though.

My favourite style, on way up South Head.

Cracken Edge quarries in nice light, hard to imagine what it would have looked like when mining/quarrying was in full swing.

Eccles Pike, Ladder Hill and erm another hill that is near Shining Tor.

Love the summer!

Kinder walk

Excellent walk up on Kinder today with Burns and Alex P of about 8 miles or so. Weather was a mixed bag of sun, hail, wind and rain but pretty good really. There was a slight moment of concern when we were assailed by some sheep ruffians whilst trying to enjoy our lunch, but luckily we escaped with our lives.

Killer sheep.

Us sat on a rock.

A view.

It's raining! Again!

Pembrokeshire

Just back from an excellent holiday in Somerset/Pembrokeshire. Here are a few of the photo's, including some of puffins from when we visited Skomer. Some are a bit blurry because of my cack-handed manual focusing!
